12 Volt Coffee Maker

12 volt coffee maker? Are they any good?

What the heck is it and who would use one was my thought when I first read about this machine. But a lot of people were asking about them so I thought I would do some research.

These are coffee machines for those on the go - cars, trucks, boats and RVs. And no one will suit all uses.

For example if you are a salesman on the road, you will want a different model than those who are camping with large families or with friends at Yellowstone Park. A road warrior will want a smaller capacity model serving up single or smaller quantities rather than a multi cup model. A Power Hunt 12 Volt personal model will brew up a cup in 3 minutes using the plug in outlet in your car.  I read a number of reviews and this one seems that it really does work.  These are Available at Amazon.com

However I also found that for larger quantities of coffee it seems these models are very slow and they don’t really have good reviews so I might stick to the PowerHunt 12 V and make multiple cups with it.

If you are a camper you getting a  12 volt kettle like the koolatron 12V BEVERAGE HEATER and use it  with a manual filter drip or better still French Press and of course you could brew up some instant coffee. Instants are having a bit of a revived interest what with Starbucks new Via and their promotion of instant iced and hot coffees. I tried this and it isn't too bad.

There are also some instant espressos and regular coffees available now for a lot less money and they are equally as good.
