Capresso Burr Grinder

Capresso Burr Grinder? Are they the best grinders?

Well certainly this type of grinder is far better than the blade type grinder which most of us are very familiar with on our countertops.

Chances are if you grind your own coffee – and you should if you want the best flavour as beans degrade within a few hours of grinding – so preground beans will never be as good as the ones you grind yourself.

Once you open the package the beans are exposed to air and moisture and start to lose their taste. They may even go slightly rancid if they don’t get used quickly.

A whole bean grinder even a blade means that you get fresh coffee as long as your beans are fresh which is why you should buy them in small lots.

Capresso has two models of burr – the Infinity model which is the upper end machine and the Stainless Steel Model.

Stainless Steel and Black Model

Their most economical has 17 grind for all coffee applications from espresso-fine to percolator-coarse. Use for pump and boiler espresso machines, French Press, Drip Coffee Makers and Percolators. A special insulated cover lid reduces grinding noise in this full featured grinder.

Infinity Conical Burr Grinder

Computer controlled special grinding heads cut the angles and shapes of the steel burrs to within 0.1 mm precision (1/250 of one inch). Burrs are produced as matched pairs and are hand assembled in Switzerland for precise fit.

The multiple gear motor produces the slowest grinding action (< 450 rpm) resulting in highest precision grinding from Turkish fine to percolator coarse. Lowest noise conical burr grinder.

Reviews

They are good for these machines but the thing that interests me the most is what I found in my Cusisinart conical burr – the coffee just tastes better.

One reviewer echoed my feelings when he noted that he can now drink the espresso and French pressed coffee straight, black rather than disguising the taste with cream and sugar.

These models like my Cuisinart allow for a large degree of grinding control that is computer chip controlled to provide me with the grind size I want for espresso, filter drip and French Press and has a container on top to store my fresh beans.

My wife says it tastes “just like Starbucks”.
