Green Mountain Coffee Pods, K Cup Single Cup Coffee Maker King?
A lot of people ask me about pods from this owner of Keurig coffee makers the one cup coffee makers that have taken the coffee world by storm. Well, the truth be known, Senseo’s 1 cup coffee maker is the one cup brewer that uses pods and Keurig has the infamous K-Cup. A K-Cup contains a hermetically sealed pre measured coffee along with the filter in a K-Cup that looks like an oversized filter. There are over a hundred different blends of K-Cup coffee and a number of other brands than the big Green one. Timothy’s coffee has a nice bold blend Midnight Magic Extra Bold which according to my wife doesn’t hold a candle to the Mountains Dark Magic Extra Bold. Her test is that she claims Dark Magic tastes good even cold. Personally I really like Newmans Own Extra Bold Fair Trade Organic which not only tastes good, is organic and fair trade. I like fair trade coffees as they provide the small farmers a decent price per pound as well as investing some of the profits back into third world infrastructure like clean water and medical care. Green Mountain also is dedicated to fair trade coffee but it’s not a pod. It’s a K-Cup. Our Keurig Elite is a marvelous machine. I never thought it would hold a candle to my French Press with my own beans ground to perfection by my conical burr coffee grinder but I was wrong. It comes a very close second…and it’s a lot faster and less mess. |
