Krups burr coffee grinder

Krups burr coffee grinder? Better than Cuisinart?

When I bought my conical burr I had a choice between Krups and Cuisinart.

It was a hard decision as I have had great experiences in the past with both manufacturers.

The Cusinart was more expensive by quite a lot. I ended up paying $99.00 for it and that was a discounted price but it had some features that I liked. First of all it has a half pound container on top to store the beans so I don’t have to put them in a separate can, measure them out and then grind them as I did in my previous blade grinder which I had for many years. It was a Cuisinart as well and never failed me.

But my research indicated the blade although it ground my beans admirably was not up to par compared to a burr of any type.

First of all the blade was smashing the beans to smithereens.

This creates a lot of heat and destroys the essential oils while the burr more gently grinds the beans. It even sounds less destructive.

In addition the Cuisinart burr is fully automatic. I program it for espresso, drip or French Press by simply rotating a dial just below the coffee storage container on top. Then I press a button on a LCD readout which indicates how many cups I want to brew and it grinds just the right amount and fine, medium or coarse grind with 18 different settings.

The Krups burr had many of the same features and is quite a little bit smaller and a lot of reviewers say it is not as noisy as the Cuisinart but I liked the fact that I could put a half pound of coffee in it and not have to add more beans as often as I would have had to for the Krup.

I guess essentially I'm a little lazy at times.

Both grinders are well reviewed and I can tell you my wife upon tasting the first cup told me “it tastes as good as Starbucks coffee”

When I can prepare a cup of coffee at home as good as a coffee shop – I feel that I’ve accomplished a lot and saved myself a little money as well…
