Alzheimers and coffee? is it the silver bullet for boomers?

Alzheimers and coffee? Will it protect us boomers from having to be helped by our relatives or even institutionalized in our old age?

Well as we boomers age, this becomes a very pressing issue to us.

Coffee lovers will be glad to know that recent research studies show that not only does it protect us but it may even help those persons who already suffer from the disease.

The problem is that the survey was conducted on get this – Mice!

Still the Byrd Alzheimer's Institute reports that caffeine contained in 5 cups of coffee per day might be enough to protect us humans like it did for the mice.

Old mice with Alzheimers fed caffeine in their water had significant benefits by reduction of plaques which are also found in humans with the illness.

Another study in Finland found that boomer aged persons lowered their risks of the disease and of demential by about 60-65%.

This study was more statistically significant not only in that it was conducted on humans but also that there was a fairly large survey of 1409 persons studying coffee and alzheimers.

It is thought that the antioxidants in coffee drinking and alzheimers may work in tangent with the caffeine to help protect humans.
