Top 2 Coffee Filters? Which is best and why?

Top Coffee Filters Duke it Out!

Most of us have used a coffee filter but which is best and why is it best? Well as usual it's personal choice and the type of brewer that you use that decides but here's some helpful tips.

The finalists are

Paper filters

Gold Coffee Filters

The first requirement of a filter is that it will separate the grinds from the cup so your coffee isn't ruined by having a lot of grinds floating around in it and both paper and gold do a good job doing this.

All metal filters including gold filters increase the speed of the water passing over the grinds and you may want to increase the amount of coffee in this type of filter.

Some say that paper filters that have been bleached white will make your cup taste like chlorine but most are bleached with hydrogen peroxide which has no taste or odor. If you are fussy buy the brown unbleached filter.

Other critics say paper does not let all the taste get into the cup and paper filter makers have fought back with patented tiny holes.

I have tried both and haven't seen an appreciable taste difference in a normal filter brewer but I like paper when I use a manual drip brewer manual drip brewer which I like because I can control the flow of water over the ground beans.
