Coffee water filters. Why good tasting water makes a better cup of coffee.
Coffee water filters, bottled water or just plain old tap water? What makes the best coffee?
One of the most common question I get it do you need to use bottled water? Not necessarily. Many times tap water will do the trick with a simple charcoal water filter. I use a Brita which removes the one of the biggest enemies of a good tasting cup and that’s clorine which is in many municipal water supplies. If you can smell or taste clorine in your tap water then get a Brita type water Pitcher. Since a cup of coffee is abut 99% water – it makes sense to make sure it tastes good before you spend money on premium beans and other equipment. If you still have taste problems consider testing the PH level of your water. You can buy kits to do this. You water should have a PH of about 7.1 which is where there is either too much acidity nor too much alkalinity. Basically it’s neutral or balanced water. If you live an area where the water is very hard or really poor tasting you may want to use bottled water for your coffee.
