Cold Brew Coffee, Easier on the Stomach - Just Reheat and Serve

How to make cold brew coffee great!

I’d never heard of cold brewed coffee but I’m always willing to try something new especially if it’s related to coffee in any way, shape or form.

Cold brewing is supposed to produce coffee that is easier on the stomach and can be refrigerated and used for up to 14 days. Just heat and serve or drink it as iced coffee.

So when I realized that a lot of people are interested in this unique way of making coffee I decided to give it a try.

I did a little research and realized that this is also a good way to make one of my all-time favorites – iced coffee as well.

There is no heat involved. It’s a true cold brew process.

You can buy fancy gadgets like the Toddy Coffee Brew System for making a cold brew but you don’t need to do that. More on the Toddy Cold Brew System available from Amazon Com

You can use a wide mouth jar like a mason jar or you can even make it in your French Press if you have one. Put in the water and coffee and run it through a filter (you can use your dripper filter) if you are using a jar or use your plunger filter if you are using your French Press.

The ratios I used 1 part coffee to 2 parts cold filtered tap water in my French Press. I stirred it up with a spoon and let it sit overnight. Then I pushed down the plunger and poured out the coffee into a glass jar and put it in the refrigerator.

Voila. Presto! You have concentrated coffee. Just add water and heat it in the microwave and you have an Americano. Add milk and water and you have latte, café au lait, café con leche or add ice and you have iced coffee.

You can pay $3 or $4 at Starbucks or make it at home, put it in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks and drink it on demand. Basically you brew it once and then use it to make coffee fast until it’s gone.
