Cuisinart Coffee Maker Consumers Choice
Cuisinart Coffee Maker Consumers Choice for Best Drip Coffee Maker is the Brew Central DCC-1200C
Having used this machine myself at a time share where it was provided as part of the kitchen equipment when my wife and I spent some vacation time in Fort Lauderdale – I wasn’t surprised to see it rate well in a Consumers Reports rating of 36 drip coffee makers.
It actually got the highest rating even including much more expensive coffee machines. It looks pretty good with a brushed stainless steel exterior finish that gives it a very modern look and it’s fully programmable. By all reports it’s a real work horse and I guess that’s why they provided it in the time share. It takes a beating from all the different owners but just keeps on going. It’s also pretty easy to operate. You don’t need a degree in rocket science to get a good cup of coffee. Some neat features - it tells you when it needs to be decalcified
- simple knobs so you can vary the temperature of the heater plate so you get the temperature you like and easy to turn on and off
- after an hour it turns itself off (trust me you don’t want to drink coffee when it’s been on the burner an hour unless you’re desperate for caffeine
- if you lost power it holds its setting and you don’t have to reprogram it
- Consumers says the temperature of the water is very good for making coffee (best temp is between 195 degrees F and 205 F and a lot of coffee makers don’t reach this temp which is why the coffee tastes bad a lot of times)
- I liked The Brew Pause feature that let me pour a cup before brewing has finished
- gold metal filter included so no paper filters necessary but they provide a starter pack just in case
- it beeps when the coffee is done.
All in all a pretty darn good coffee maker.
