Green coffee beans online
Buying green coffee beans online is a great way to get the freshest possible coffee as you roast them yourself. However contrary to what a lot of people will tell you – greens beans are not fresh forever. In fact, there is a relatively small time frame in which beans are still fresh. It is a good idea to check the time that beans are harvested in the country that you are considering buying because some countries only have one harvest per annum.
This is important because once they are harvested it generally takes about six weeks to process them and ship them out to your point of purchase. And then there is only a six week window in which they are still considered fresh – so you have to roast them within this period or your beans will be stale. For example Guatemalan coffee that I am now drinking in July was harvested sometime between October to March (hopefully March) and the best time to buy it is from December to July. I bought it from a local source I have tested myself and it’s pretty fresh. However if I was to buy beans from Panama they were harvested from November to March and best bought between December to June and would be pretty stale by now…. If you can get your beans locally from a retailer who is reputable you can be assured of fresh beans. If you are not going to buy locally because there are no local sources you can buy green coffee beans online. Actually even some local sources will ship within the city if it is difficult for you to get to the retail outlet or coffee shop. You may want to consider joining some roaster forums to find out which beans are in season and fresh
