Health Benefits of Coffee -Good News for Coffee Drinkers in reduction of disease

Proven health benefits of coffee! Hooray! Coffee had previously gotten a very, very bad rap as another of those many pleasures that were not good for us and in fact could cause considerable harm to coffee lovers.

But now scientists are indicating that it is not only not bad fir us but also pointing out the benefits of drinking coffee. For coffee lovers this is pretty good news.

Flawed findings of researchers at Harvard University back in the 1980’s were front page news. Coffee was reported to cause colon cancer in major newspapers and magazines. But it wasn’t true!

Now research is proving that moderate coffee consumption is actually good for us and backing this up with 19 years of research on 126,000 people. Back when I took statistics my prof would have told me this was statistically significant – big time! The new Harvard study came up with these findings backed up by a major Dutch study, which we coffee lovers love to hear.

Coffee Health Benefits - Reducing Risk of Disease

3-6 cups of the hard stuff – caffeinate coffee per day can reduce men’s risk of diabetes by a staggering 54%. Women’s risk was slashed by 30%.

Hundreds of other studies indicate that the ingredients of our favorite tipple are extremely healthy for us.

Not only is colon cancer not caused by coffee it may reduce it by 25% for coffee drinkers versus non coffee drinkers and a staggering 80% drop in liver cirrhosis, and a 50% in gallstone development.

Other studies indicate that coffee may reduce risk of liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, oral cancer, ovarian cancer, Alzheimer’s and dementia, skin cancer, heart disease and Parkinson’s disease.

And there are other benefits including increasing athletic performance in weekend athletes.

So get out your favorite cup and enjoy a brew without any guilt at all. There aren’t many tipples left that can make that claim.
