The Best K Cup Coffee Review. How to buy K cups, green mountain K Cups and more...
K-cups are the darling of the single cup coffee world. Competing against pod coffee and T-Discs they are small cups vacuam sealed cups of preground coffee which fit into the Keurig single cup coffee maker.
K-Cups have a foil top which is punctured by the Keurig brewer. One single hole is drilled into the top of the cup and then hot high pressure water is forced into it – kind of a kind of a space age espresso machine but not only producing espresso like blends but also many types of pre-packaged gourmet blends. Sort of a super instant coffee – but way better tasting.
We are going to evaluate 18 Coffee and Tea blends K cup coffee cups that came with our Keurig B40 Elite. The genius of the system is that not only is it not messy with no grinds on your counter to clean up and no filter to dispose of it is also fast. Within 60 seconds of popping the K-Cup into the machine you’ve got a pretty good cup of coffee. Clean up is easy you just take the cup out of the machine after you’ve brewed a cup and throw it away. It’s obviously satisfied a need because Keurig coffee makers and their K-Cups are flying off the shelves despite the fact that there are a limited number of different blends and the fact that each cup costs more than your old Mr. Coffee dripper produced. So you’ll have to do your own tasting as well – but here’s what we found… Van Houtte French Vanilla Anthony: Too weak but not bad tasting vanilla flavor. I used the smaller cup size button. May: A delightful coffee. Thumbs up on this one! I’d buy a box. Green Mountain Nantucket Blend Anthony: I like it but it's kind of mild though it grows on you. Nice for a late afternoon coffee. Lots of flavour but a little thin is the best I can describe it. May: I like it. Newman's Special Blend Fair Trade Certified Organic Extra Bold
Anthony: Could drink this all day long. Superb! May: A little too strong for me. Tullys French Roast Remarkably we both liked this. It's a strong bold flavor not quite as full tasting as my French Press but pretty darn good. This is a keeper! As good as or better than most coffee shop coffee. Timothy's Italian Blend Once again a very good taste. We both liked it and I'd buy this one again. Green Mountain Extra Bold Dark Magic Very nice taste. Strongish. Good with cream. We both liked it. Dietrich French Roast We ran out of cream and May said it was too strong. I however drank it down to last drop. Doesn't need cream but May differs so I drank hers as well! Tully's Kona Blend We both liked this and I'd buy it. Caribou Coffee Caribou Blend We both thought it was just O.K. Timothy's Nicarguan Fair Trade Organic Anthony: I thought it had a bit of a burnt taste. Sort of like it had been on a filter dripper element for too long. Thumbs down on this one! May said she didn't want to try it if that's what I thought...
