Whole Bean Flavored Coffee - Buy It, Make It - What's the Best?

What’s the best whole bean flavored coffee?

Well my recommendation is that whether you buy it from any online or offline retailer that you buy beans with a touch of Irish cream - but you may like something else!

My second recommendation is that if you grind your own beans that you either get a dedicated grinder if you are using a burr grinder or grind them with a blade or at the retailer.

The flavoring can get caught up in the burrs and is very hard if not impossible to remove so you will be tasting your hazelnut flavoring in your cup for days after whether you want it or not. And if you mix flavored beans in your burr you will get a pretty funny tasting coffee.

Or you can do what the baristas do. They make the coffee and add the flavorings. That way you get the freshest beans and then fire in a little chocolate and vanilla.

How about a hot chocolate espresso? Espresso, chocolate syrup, a little vanilla syrup, hot milk and whipped cream on top. Now that’s good. In a pinch you could use strong coffee instead of espresso or even a touch of cold brew coffee

This way if you don’t like the flavor just change the proportions next time or add another type of flavoring. Use natural syrups rather than artificial and unsweetened rather than sweetened.

Other Whole Bean Flavored Coffee

How does hazelnut, chocolate mint, cinnamon, caramel, or apricot flavor sound? There all available.

For those who want to save a little cash – make your own syrups. A simple sugar and water mixture heated to a boil with the flavoring agent and then simmered until it’s down to 1 cup. You can use 1 teaspoon of cinnamon which you add before you boil it or try a vanilla bean or 1 tsp. of vanilla extract. Experiment with other flavorings until you find your own perfect syrup. I like chocolate syrup with real cocoa and a touch of vanilla. A good cook can make a homemade syrup taste as good or better than anything you can buy in a store.

Another advantage of using flavoring rather than buying flavored whole bean is that if you don’t like the taste – you don’t have a pound of coffee sitting around until it goes stale in your cupboard.
